After the international meeting in Ventspils, Latvia in August 2008, leaders of IUKL (International Federation of Kettlebell Sport and Girevoy) asked me to create the French branch, the only recognized authority and approved by the IUKL in teaching and practice of kettlebells in France. The French Academy of Kettlebell Sport Girevoy and was therefore made at this meeting and I am the proud President. France is now officially recognized as a member of the IUKL. The aim of the sports association is to promote the use of kettlebells and Sport Girevoy the highest standards, respecting those of IUKL. All courses and seminars are approved by the IUKL and Vasily Ginko (world champion of long cycle, Secretary General of the IUKL and sporting director). Some clubs are already starting to fall into place (I think the Dogman Kettlebell Club) and are approved and affiliated to the Academy so that the standard practice and retain a high level. Also, I welcome France Girevik, a brand new company that specializes in selling kettlebell competition and who was willing to be our first sponsor. Kettlebells proposed by France Girevik are those used in international competitions approved by the IUKL and should be available in December. Their site should be updated very soon.
